I redesigned the Crest for Japan's National Football team, (aka soccer for Americans) for my Vector class during the Women's World Cup in 2015. I wanted to show how this crest used, apart from being on the player's uniforms, so I created some merchandise that would be sold to fans and supporters. I reused the Yatagarasu, 3-legged crow on the current crest as well as the current colors. I believe that the best logo redesigns aren't complete departures from what currently exists, if what already exists works fine! I chose to feature the red Sun flag so that people who aren't very knowledgeable about Football/Soccer or the teams playing at the World Cup would be able to easily identify Japan.
