The words of David Foster Wallace's commencement speech for a graduating class, made into a book. During speeches, I tend to zone out, and get distracted, much like when I read a textbook about a dull topic. I chose to use the idea of "distraction" and treat my book as if it was one of my textbooks during grade-school. There are doodles everywhere, some getting in the way of the text, much like loud thoughts that appear and drown out the things you are hearing or reading. Sometimes they correspond to ideas presented, but for the most part show my inner thought process. I had an old manilla folder of all the doodles I made during High School, so I looked through it and found inspiration for these images-some are even direct scans from old notebooks.
